The best electronics textbook I've read so far

I'd previously read a few electronics textbooks and been lucky - but I went from Stan Gibilisco's book to this one and found exactly what I had been hoping for - with the help of reviews on the US site...hence my decision to add my own review in case it helps other would-be purchasers.This book covers the fundamentals and then provides really good guidance to get you building some useful projects - including an audio amplifier project that (OK, I admit I haven't built it yet) really stimualtes one's interest in the subject.I think it was good that I had read Gibilisco first - it really helps the theory sink in, and you do, as the author suggests, have to re-read complex passages or even whole chapters of this book to make it stick but it is so well written, that this is no problem.In summary, I am really impressed with this book and the author's style. It gives really helpful explanations about a wide variety of circuits and explains just why you would use certain component combinations in a given circuit in a way that other books sometimes just asume you will know already or figure out.I am an IT professional seeking to get some theory and practical knowledge about electronics and this book has sparked a wide interest in audio electronics.

Electrics and electronics for the novice

This is a brilliant book. I started learning from page 1 and and haven't been able to put it down since. If, like me, you are not a complete muppet but really want to start from scratch but reach a good understanding of electricity and electronics, this is the book. The only down side for me being british and the book being American, is the mains voltage, but this really does not matter. What a brilliant buy.
