Great setting and some memorable characters

I received this book via Netgalley in return for an honest review and I am very glad I did. The author conjures up a wonderful picture of small town America and Jill’s bookshop and coffee shop is a delight – the kind every writer longs to sit in. In this type of ‘cozy mystery’ the location and characters are every bit as important as the mystery which unfolds and these are particularly well done in this book.It is easy to read and although there are a few red herrings as in any good mystery, the story is also easy to follow.At the beginning I really wanted Jill to find out who had killed her friend ‘Miss Emily’. As the story progressed, with a couple of subplots, it became more about Jill being able to hold onto the house that miss Emily bequeathed her.I loved Jill’s Aunt Jackie and hope to read more about her in the future. There could have been more in the way of an obstacle between Jill and Detective King and I’m not clear really why Jill’s friend Amy had to disappear but these are minor points. All in all a lovely mystery, great setting and some memorable characters.
