Not up to Deaver's usual standard

There was just something missing that prevented this one from standing on the same level as some of the earlier Lincoln Rhyme books. I guess JD was trying to vary things a bit as Rhyme didn't get to do his usual forensic "walking the grid" with Sachs, but it didn't really work. The big bad was barely seen before or after being unmasked, and the main antagonist was just a little too much of a cartoonish Bond henchman.

As usual an excellent read

The thing about Jeffrey Deaver is that you can always rely on him to deliver an excellent and gripping read. It was good to catch up with Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs and all the other usual characters with a few new ones for us to get to know.A brilliant story with plenty of excitement with twists at every opportunity.

Glad to be back

I had not read a Lincoln Rhyme story for 5 years after friends had bought me a Kindle on retirement. After turning a few pages all of the main characters came back into my mind where they were warmly greeted. I was intrigued with the original crime - How would Rhyme solve this one? Then as the story unravelled into so many parts it reminded me what a wonderful author Jeffery Deaver is. I immediately ordered 2 more paperbacks and downloaded a Rhyme short story. A pleasure to be hooked again.
